What is Happening in Your Next Chapter?

“Instead of being afraid to start a new chapter in your life, be as excited as you are when reading a really good book and you want to know what happens next.”

How many of you spent some precious Easter hours engrossed in a good book, which you really didn’t want to put down? It can be very easy to be enthralled  by a story that someone else has written and hide behind the fun and glamour of the characters we are reading about, rather than facing up to the reality of our own lives. You may be very happy with every aspect of your life and just as positive about the outcome of the chapters you are actively writing as a good book. What about the rest of you who know that there are things you would like to be changing. Not because you are broken or need to be fixed, but just because there are things that are on your ‘bucket list.’ What is it for you that you have been putting off, that you are afraid to start?

Maybe there are things that didn’t work out for you in the past and you afraid of creating a pattern of repetition. What if I try and fail? What if I have a go and scare myself with the success. Marianne Williamson is quoted as saying, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness, that most frightens us.” The tall poppy syndrome is alive and well in New Zealand. What if we upset other people if we shine more than they do? We are told the emotion of fear and excitement releases the same hormones so the difference is in our minds. Check in with yourself, to find out what the fear is all about and turn the page to the new chapter that you have written for yourself with conscious intention.

Enjoy the excitement of following your dreams!

Grow Up!

“Life without progress becomes unendurable, and the person who ceases from growth must either become an imbecile or insane. The greater and more harmonious and well-rounded your growth is, the happier you will be.”   Wallace D Wattles

Don’t you just love the language from the early 20th century! There’s no such thing as standing still, you are either moving backwards of forwards. If you think you are standing still in comparison to everyone around you, you will be going backwards. Everything in life is either growing or dying. It’s in our spiritual nature to want to expand and express ourselves in a greater way. When you are not progressing in life, you are cutting off and denying your spirit the joy of expansion and expressing.

So if you don’t want to ‘become an imbecile or insane,’ it is important to consciously, and  deliberately, develop yourself emotionally, intellectually and spiritually on a regular basis. In every moment there is an opportunity to express yourself authentically and purposefully. Are you aware of how your life looks and feels when you are living on purpose? Choose to notice when you are in the flow of life and therefore living authentically, and notice how much happier you feel.

Enjoy having well-rounded growth!

How Old Are You?

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream another dream.”

Just google for people who have started something after the age 40, 50, 60 and created a huge success!  Henry Ford & his Model T car, Ray Kroc & Colonel Sanders, just to name a few. Being an international success may not be your dream & may not have been theirs either. They followed their passion to be engaged with something they loved & didn’t acknowledge their age as a road blocker. Your dream may not be to set up in business. I have friends who have never exercised much in their lives but are suddenly running marathons or riding in biking events.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to paint but not had the time with family commitments but now you do. Take those classes. Maybe spending hours on the golf course was frowned upon when it clashed with children’s sport. Now is the time to enjoy something that has been sitting in the back of your mind for years. And for all you women out there who have stopped dreaming your own dreams, when the children no longer need you every second of the day, start exercising the dreaming muscle again. Whatever it is you are dreaming of, get emotionally involved with the idea, take one step towards that goal and before you know it you are in the zone doing something you absolutely love. Some of you may have noticed that my tagline is “Youth and Vitality at Any Age,” as I strongly believe life is about continuing to engage with our joy and passion.

Enjoy connecting with your dreams!
