I am licensed to run Chakradance™ classes.  What is that I hear you ask?

There Are Seven Energy Centres Called Chakras

We are all bundles of energy which flow through us like electrical energy.  The Eastern cultures have known this for centuries.  The Chinese have mapped out the lines of energy or meridians and use their system with acupuncture.  The Indian culture has their own system based on 7 energy centres that run down the centre of the body, called chakras.  They liken these to the lotus flower which can open and close.  When open the energy is able to flow freely but if closed there are blockages to the energy flow with resultant symptoms.  Using this knowledge is an extension of the coaching work that I do.

Blockage of Energy Causes Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Problems

Each of the centres vibrates at a different rate and range, from the base chakra at the base of the spine, to the crown or 7th chakra at the top of the head.  The 7 pieces of music for Chakradance™, have been specifically chosen to vibrate with each of the 7 chakras to help them to open up and allow the energy to flow well.  This allows healing of physical, emotional and spiritual blockages.  The dance is blending your own free-flowing meditative movements with these particular frequencies of sound, turning our attention inwards to the inner world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses.

Chakradance™ is an Inward Journey Using Specific Music to connect to Each Chakra

The intention with these classes is to honour the work of the Soul, our true essence or authentic self, trying to tap into what it has to say.  So many of us suffer from uncomfortable symptoms in our lives, such as depression, anxiety, addictions and compulsive behaviours.  In traditional shamanic cultures, it is believed that these symptoms arise from a loss of connection to the Soul.  Basically there is conflict between our inner and outer lives.  Chakradance™ aims to restore health to our chakras – the energy centres that, in Eastern tradition, are the gateways to integrating mind, body & spirit.

I have always enjoyed moving to music and because of my interest in healing through moving energy, I jumped at following up on this opportunity when it presented. I have been surprised & amazed with what has come up when allowing my body to relax with the music and open to new concepts and ideas.  Knowing how to ‘dance’ is not necessary!  Every person moves as they feel comfortable.

Mandala Art

After the movement session is finished we all draw a piece of art, called a mandala, that represents a feeling or an image that may have come up while moving to the music.  This is a way of integrating the experience.  Once again, knowing how to draw is not necessary – it’s all about expressing your experience and what your art represents that is important.

The classes are run in a series of 9 sessions.  The first is an introductory and the last is an integration class, with the 7 in between, focusing on each of the 7 chakras.

Come and explore, have fun, find meaning, let go!  Bring a friend.
